Buffy Summers is your typical teenage girl. She likes fashion, movie nights, hanging out with her friends, boys... and the occasional vampire slaying. She is the chosen one, The Slayer, born to defend the world against the vampires, the demons and other forces of darkness. There's just one small problem, she doesn't want to be the Slayer.
When she was living in Los Angeles, life was easy. She was pretty, popular, she had everything. Then somewhere, the previous slayer passed, and the prophecy was bestowed upon Buffy.
Along with her Watcher, Buffy was trained in many styles of fighting. With the prophecy came strength, agility and other skills that she didn't have before. With this power came much responsibility and Buffy did not know how to handle it. She started to get in trouble for violence, her grades slipped, and she became distant from her parents. Eventually this stress on the family caused her parents to split. Not long after the divorce Buffy burned down the school gym. Her parents claimed it was because she was very emotionally unstable, but Buffy and her Watcher knew the truth. The gym was stuffed with hungry vampires, and Buffy had no choice.
That choice forced her mother to pick up and move them both to Sunnydale, a small town in California that sits right on top of a hellmouth. The hellmouth is an opening that demons can cross from hell to the mortal world. When Buffy first got there, she had decided to give up the slaying of vampires and demons, opting to have a normal life. Her mother would not hate her any more, she would make friends and be popular again. Sadly, however, she could not escape her fate. At her new high school she found her new Watcher. The librarian named Giles. He tried everything he could to get her back into slaying, saying that the world needed her. It was only when an ancient vampire known as the Master makes himself known does Buffy realize that she is needed.
She quickly becomes friends with two locals to Sunnydale known as Xander and Willow. They quickly learn and accept her secret and help her with her plans to defeat the Master. Then Buffy meets a mystery man who was supposedly sent to Sunnydale to help Buffy as well. His name was Angel. Together with her new friends, Buffy defeated the master but not before she had died. Xander found her lying in a small pool of water, suffocated. But he did not give up. He performed CPR until she was revived.
However, Buffy wasn't the only one with a secret. Angel, whom she thought was just an attractive man out to help her, was actually a vampire. Angel was different than other vampires though... he had a soul. It was his curse for all of the evil he had performed in the centuries before. He was doomed to feel intense remorse for everything he had done. And that was why he was able to fall in love with Buffy.
Buffy tries to rely almost entirely on herself, but her friends are always there to pick her up when she falls. Almost two years have passed since Buffy first moved to Sunnydale and she is now a junior in high school. Her relationship with Angel is complicated and she is still fighting to secure the safety of Sunnydale and everyone in it.
